Meet the youngest kenya deputy governor,She is only 26

Taita Taveta’s Majala Mlagui has made history by becoming the youngest deputy governor not only in the county but also in the country.
Mlagui, 26, teamed up with former journalist Granton Samboja to run for the Taita Taveta governor seat during the August 8 elections on a Wiper Party ticket.
The duo won the seat after trouncing John Mruttu, who was defending his seat as an independent candidate.

In an interview with TED Fellows, the young gemologist and entrepreneur said she had dedicated her life to fighting for the rights of miners in the county.
In 2011, Mlagui started a social-impact company called Thamani to empower small scale miners through education and advocacy.
The company sources for coloured gemstones which they use to produce luxury jewelry.
Being keen on generational change in the county’s leadership, Mlagui has lauded young women and men who have stepped up their fight for leadership positions.
Taita Taveta County Deputy Governor Majala Mlagui is the youngest person to hold such position in the country.
